When people tell me they want to drive around Ireland on their vacation, I show them this picture – or any number of pictures I have that look exactly like this. This is a typical small-town, two-way Irish road. Oh sure, there are some highways throughout the country and much wider roads in popular areas. If you’re going to go off the tourist track and see “the real Ireland” (which I can’t recommend enough), make sure your depth perception is infallible. And be warned – the rental cars don’t come with four-wheel drive.
That’s not a road. There’s no way that’s a road.
But it IS a road.
